Local Women Trekking Guides – Trusted Local Guide in Sapa
Welcome to Sapa Weather Trekking Tour, a small local trekking company created by Black Hmong women from the villages of Sapa in North Vietnam.
If you are searching for local women trekking guides or a trusted local guide in Sapa, our team offers authentic trekking tours, homestays, cooking classes, and cultural experiences led by experienced local women born and raised in the mountains of Sapa.
Why Choose Our Local Women Trekking Guides?
We are proud to be one of the few trekking companies in Sapa operated by local Hmong women. All our guides come from different villages around Sapa and have years of experience leading trekking tours through rice terraces, bamboo forests, mountain trails, and traditional villages.
Before creating our own company, we worked for many tour companies in Sapa where local guides were often paid very low wages. Because of this, we decided to build our own independent business to provide fairer incomes for local women trekking guides while offering travelers a more authentic experience.
Today, our team includes 10 experienced local guides:
Mai Giang (Team Leader), So, Su, Chu, Sung, Dua, Pang, Ly, Thi, Do, and Yang.
All our guides speak English and enjoy sharing local culture, Hmong traditions, farming life, and village experiences with visitors from around the world.
Trusted Local Guide in Sapa With Authentic Experiences
Choosing a trusted local guide in Sapa can completely change your travel experience. Many tours in Sapa are operated by outside companies, but our guides were born and raised in the villages where we trek every day.
We know the hidden mountain paths, quiet rice terraces, local families, traditional farming methods, and authentic experiences that many tourists never discover.
Our tours are perfect for travelers who want:
- Authentic local experiences
- Real cultural connections

When you trek with us, you are not only visiting Sapa — you are walking with local women who live in these mountains every day.
Mai’s Story – From Selling Handicrafts to Becoming a Trusted Local Guide in Sapa
Hello, my name is Mai, and I am proud to be part of the Black Hmong ethnic minority group. I was born in Lao Chai Village near Sapa Town.
When I was 8 years old, I could not read or write. I spent my childhood selling handicrafts on the streets of Sapa to help support my family. Life was difficult, and I did not have the opportunity to attend school.
One day, while selling handicrafts near a hotel, I met a kind couple from Australia named Laurel and Daryl. They asked me why I was not in school and later decided to support my education.
Because of their kindness, I was able to study Vietnamese and English in Sapa. Their support completely changed my future.
Without education, I likely would have married very young, which is common in traditional Hmong culture. Instead, I continued learning, improved my English, and eventually became a trekking guide.
Today, I proudly lead our team of local women trekking guides and help travelers discover the real beauty of Sapa while supporting local communities.
